Conquering

It is vital to understand that disagreements and conflicts between people and nations cannot be resolved through force. All wisdom traditions are in agreement about this. Conquering with force merely imprisons. It does not remove the reasons underlying the conflict. It just increases the tension and inevitably gives rise to even greater animosity.

Love, in contrast, is a unifying force. It radiates outward to resolve differences. It is not that differences dissolve and are lost, but they are unified into the greater whole and are made useful.

Love conquers before there is fighting. Even if channels of communication have broken down and fighting breaks out, the underlying and purpose should be one of love and unity by love.

Repay evil with good and, therefore, the one where there was enmity will become your warm friend. - Islam

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger - Judaism

Force, no matter how concealed, begets resistence. - Lakota

Conquer your foe by force, and you increase his anger. Conquer by love, and you will reap no more sorrow. - Buddhism

Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. - Christianity

When one injures another, the injured turns around and injures the injurer. When one cherishes another, the other cherishes the cherisher. One should frame one's rule of conduct according to this. - Hinduism
